There are certain faces that we've become accustomed to seeing over the last few fashion seasons. Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Lineisy Montero, Adwoa Aboah, Leomie Anderson and well, if you haven't got Gigi walking for you, can you even call yourself a designer at this point?
We jest, of course, but it's certainly true to say that the most recent generation of 'supers' is making itself very well known.
But we can't forget who begat (sometimes quite literally) these current super-kids of fashion. Namely, the original supermodels of the nineties.
We're talking Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Helena Christensen, Elle Macpherson, to name some of the absolute greats. The emergence of the latest generation of fashion stars, after a decade or so of giving the limelight to actresses, has ignited a deep nostalgia for the original runway doyennes.
Which is why it was such an incredible coup for Versace to have persuaded five brilliant fashion luminaries to reveal themselves as the show's finale tonight in Milan.
It was definitely what we would call, 'a moment.'
Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen appeared in slinky, nineties slip-inspired gold dresses and reminded the audience where those classic super-walks had originated.
Of course, it goes without saying that a show that managed to wrangle five original supers also had some of the current ones walking. And yes, that included both Bella and Gigi.
But also, in a rather sweet turn of events, Kaia Gerber walked in the show, making mother Cindy Crawford proud, moments before she also took to the catwalk.
We challenge you to dream up a more perfect finale.
