Production has been shut down on Blake Lively's upcoming movie project The Rhythm Section, it has been reported.

The actress injured her hand shooting one of the film's set-pieces back in December, and production was previously halted while she had surgery. But now The Hollywood Reporter states that Lively requires further surgery, which has once again caused producers to hit pause.

The publication states that crew members have been told to find other work, and while filming was about halfway completed, it may not pick up again for five whole months.

Blake Lively has not, at the time of writing, responded to the halting of production on her social media accounts. Digital Spy has reached out to representatives of the actress for comment.

The Rhythm Section is a female-led assassin thriller which is said to have a James Bond-esque vibe, which is good because it comes from Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON.

Director Reed Morano, who helmed The Handmaid's Tale, previously told THR that Lively was 'recovering' but that usually people spend four to six weeks in rehab and wear a split.

The film was scheduled for release on February 22, 2019.

It is unknown whether that will remain the same or change due to these latest developments.
