Janet Jackson stayed far away from the Super Bowl last night, despite her legions of fans wanting her to pop up during Justin Timberlake's half-time show.

She famously had her right nipple exposed to the world back in 2004 when a wardrobe malfunction meant that Justin ripped off half her top at the end of his hit 'Rock Your Body'.

Even though Janet wasn't there, Justin didn't completely ignore the controversy during last night's performance, as you can see when you watch the show in full below.

After playing new track 'Filthy' live for the first time, he launched straight into 'Rock Your Body', but this year he opted out of singing that now oh-so-controversial lyric 'gonna have you naked by the end of this song'.

Instead, he gave us a 'hold up, stop' and a cheeky wink, and it didn't go unnoticed... especially by the Janet fans out there.

With that out the way, it was a greatest hits medley, going from 'Señorita' to 'SexyBack', followed by 'My Love' and 'Cry Me A River'.

Next up was 'Suit & Tie' and 'Until the End of Time' before another moment overshadowed in advance by controversy.

There had been plenty of reports that JT would be paying tribute to Prince with a hologram of the late pop funk phenomenon, but a backlash put an end to those rumours.

Instead, he performed 'I Would Die 4 U' with more traditional video footage of Prince.

And he then closed his set with 'Mirrors' followed by mega-smash 'Can't Stop The Feeling' to cap off a show that entertained, but probably won't be remembered quite as well as his 2004 set.
