With incessant hounding from the press, photographers stationed outside every nearby restaurant, nightclub and coffee shop to snap photographs of you, and fans quick to judge at hints of a break-up, engagement, or argument, it's no surprise many celebrities are reluctant to open up about their relationships to the public.

However, Selena Gomez ex-boyfriend Zedd (real name Anton Zaslavski) has finally decided to speak out about his romance with the star.

In an interview with Billboard, the 27-year-old singer – who Selena admitted she had a 'thing' with in June this year – revealed the downsides of dating the Texas-born star.

'Reporters were calling my parents. People were hacking my friends' phones. I was pissed. [Though] I kind of knew what I was getting myself into,' he said.

'She is one of the most talked about people in the world, but I had no idea how much that would change my life,' he added.

The pair first fueled romance rumours in 2015 after Selena features on his 'I Want You To Know' single and music video, however never publicly admitted they were an item.

While Zedd continues to remain quiet about his current relationship status, Selena has been dating fellow singer The Weeknd since January and made their relationship official by attending the 2017 Met Gala together in May.

Last month, the 'Fetish' singer opened up to Instyle about her love life, admitting The Weeknd is her 'best friend'.

'I don't depend on one area of my life to make me happy. It's really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy,' she said.

'I've wanted to be in a strong head space for years, and I really wasn't. Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I'd feel insecure.

'You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you, if that makes sense,' she added. 'I'm lucky because he's more of a best friend than anything else.'

Cute.
