Following Meghan Markle's Vanity Fair cover earlier this month in which she spoke of her relationship with her boyfriend, Prince Harry, friend and actress Priyanka Chopra spoke out against the magazine's sexist portrayal of the Suits star.
She told Entertainment Tonight: 'I don't know if I will get into trouble for this, but I have an opinion.
'I mean, she's on the cover of Vanity Fair. It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I'm just saying. I mean, she's an actor, she's an activist, she's a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more.
And it appears the 35-year-old actress isn't quite finished talking about the media's unfair representation of her friend when it comes to her love life.
Speaking at the 2017 Global Goals Awards on Tuesday evening in New York, she explained to PEOPLE the problem when women are regarded as a 'plus one' in a relationship.
'Sometimes women become plus-ones, and sometimes guys become plus-ones,' she said.
'It's who is on the radar more. [But] I think in an overall scheme of things, it's harder for girls to be able to make their own stand for what they are. And I'm a girl love kind of girl.'
Now, if you're dating someone as famous as the fifth-in-line to the British throne, it's not entirely surprising Markle is often referred to as his 'girlfriend'.
However, as Chopra points out, that shouldn't negate her role as a successful actress, activist and philanthropist.
Speaking of her friendship with the Toronto-based star, who she first met at the annual ELLE Women in Television dinner, she said: 'We bonded as actors. We just became friends, like two girls would.'
On the evening, Chopra presented the Leadership Award to Indian activist Ria Sharma for her work helping acid attack survivors.
Yesterday, the UNICEF goodwill ambassador took to Instagram to encourage men and women to 'come together and work to empower, educate, create opportunities and impart skill sets' to help improve the world, like Sharma.
The same day, the Indian star met with social activist Malala Yousafzai and renowned feminist writer Gloria Steinem at the United Nations.
