Selena Gomez might have reportedly celebrated New Year's Eve with her rumoured boyfriend Justin Bieber in Cabo San Lucas over the weekend, but it sounds like she has another goal in sight for 2018.

Discussing what she's most looking forward to in the new year while at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event last month, the 25-year-old admitted that rather than focusing on her relationship with Bieber, she'll be dedicating this year to her true passion - music.

'2018 will be my year of music,' the singer-turned-actress revealed.

Opening up about her inspirations for the new year, the 13 Reasons Why executive producer said that she feels encouraged by her fellow female musicians in the industry who have spoken out about their own demons and health struggles.

'A positive thing and change in the music industry has been the women,' she previously said.

'I think the women have really defined their voices and I feel most comfortable because I see all the women I look up to feeling comfortable enough to talk about the struggles or things that they've gone through…'

Selena, who underwent a kidney transplant with the help of her best friend, actress Francia Raissa, last summer added: 'I think it's an important time where people can say what they feel and know their platforms are used for something great. I'm so proud and happy to be a part of the industry while it is changing in this way and I couldn't be more honoured to be a part of that…'

'I think one of the experiences I've had myself, I've experienced a lot with my health, and being able to talk about that confidently ... I feel like I can make a positive impact by sharing my story.'

Having admitted her transplant gave her a new sense of gratitude for her body while on stage at the Woman of the Year event, the 'Fetish' singer revealed that her health problems have finally taught her to work at her 'own pace'.

She explained: 'This year, I did it on my own pace. I don't want to rush this ... I was like, "No, I'm going to release the songs I want to release and just take my time". I was going through stuff personally, and I just wanted to take care of myself.'

Last month, the star and her mother, Mandy Teefey, reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram after a 'heated conversation' regarding Selena's blossoming romance with on/off beau, Justin Bieber.

The news came weeks after fans grew suspicious the 'Sorry' singer was on the brink of popping the question to his Texas-born girlfriend.

Selena, we have a feeling 2017 is going to be a busy year for you.
