Months after Barack and Michelle Obama helped their eldest daughter move to college at Harvard University, Malia Obama has been spotted enjoying a weekend in New York City with her rumoured British boyfriend.
Over the weekend, the 19-year-old former First Daughter was spotted out and about in Soho, NYC, wrapped up in several layers against the bitter weather.
Obama's beau, Rory Farquharson, was spotted sitting alongside the famous child in a blue pufferjacket, while Malia was dressed in a floral Urban Outfitters dress, black lace-up boots and a black coat.
Rumours of a romance between the pair first came to light when Malia was reportedly filmed kissing British-born Farquharson at a Harvard-Yale football match in November.
During the pair's outting, the couple were spotted cuddling up to each other as they walked along the street.
Farquharson was Head of School at Rugby during 2015-2016, according to the Mail Online.
He is said to be sporty and academic, representing the school in golf and in the Blue Bunsen Society, a chemistry club. Friends described him as 'quite a catch' and 'very popular', one insider told the newspaper.
Reports of Malia's new love interest come after the former US president was asked how he felt about his daughters, including Malia's 16-year-old sister Sasha, starting dating.
'That happened, you know?" he told a North Carolina radio station last year. 'The truth is, I'm pretty relaxed about it for two reasons.
'One is [their mom] Michelle. She's taught—she's such a great example of how she carries herself, her self-esteem, not depending on boys to validate how you look or you know, not letting yourself be judged by anything other than your character and intelligence,' he said.
'And hopefully I've been a good example in terms of how I've shown respect to my wife. So I don't worry about it because they're really solid, smart girls - young ladies now.'
It looks like things are getting serious between the pair.
