Almost two years after declaring his love for Rihanna at the 2016 MTV VMAs, we thought Drake and RiRi had finally called a day on their romance, let alone their musical collaborations together.

Thankfully, the two are back together. Well, sort of. Back singing/rapping on the same song, at the very least.

Over the weekend, Pharrell premiered a track during a guest mix on OVO Sound Radio in which the Canadian singer can be heard opening a new remix of 'Lemon' by N.E.R.D and Rihanna.

The latest version of 'Lemon' begins with a verse from Drake, who raps:

'I get it how I live it/ I live it how I get/ Y'all don't really get it/ I pull up in a lemon/ Blocks get to spendin'/ Money 3D printin'/ Never had a limit/ Never been religious/ I just always had opinions.'

Pharrell tweeted a preview of the remix, which is now available on Apple Music, iTunes and Spotify, much to the former couple's fans' confusion.

Half of fans are confused as to why Pharell thought Drake's remix was necessary given Rihanna's song-stealing performance.

Meanwhile, others have tweeted that the singer 'saved' the track':

Months after it was rumoured the pair had got matching tattoos and were enjoying frequent date nights together, Rihanna hinted at her break-up with the 'One Dance' star in October 2016.

She took to Instagram with a picture of the phrase: 'None of my exes are married or in happy relationships so it's safe to say that I wasn't da problem lol.'

We're not quite sure how we feel about Drake's new musical endeavour, but we hope it's a sign that new music (or a rekindled romance) might be on the horizon for D-Drizzle and RiRi.

In 2016, Drake proclaimed his undying love for the 'Disturbia' signer, much to our surprise.

'She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old," he said, standing beside her, during the awards ceremony. 'She's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me. She's a living, breathing legend in our industry.'

For the sake of all humanity, get back together you guys!
