Mariah Carey's Christmas may have just been ruined. Today, it was revealed that her classic festive tune 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is no longer our most-downloaded holiday song, according to a report by PlayNetwork.

Mariah's Yuletide anthem has been knocked off the top spot by The Shins' cover of The Beatle's 1979 publicly criticised flop 'Wonderful Christmastime', written by Sir Paul McCartney.

Now, the original Christmastime song and the 2012 cover are actually rather good, and they're certainly easier to sing along with after a few sherrys. But, we ask you this: what about the crescendo in Love Actually when it-girl Joanna serenades a young love-struck Sam with Mariah lyrics? What about the video in which Mariah frolicks in the snow in a red jumpsuit? Who is going to teach the next generation that Christmas is about more than just food and presents, rather, it is about grand gestures of love and spending time with those you care about? Mariah, that's who.

Which is why her musical ode will never stop being our personal top-track for dancing around the Christmas tree.
