Last night’s 66th Primetime Emmy Awards saw ELLE fave Benedict Cumberbatch scoop the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in the mini-series and movie category, for his career-making title role in BBC drama Sherlock.
The ceremony also saw The Hobbit actor, Martin Freeman secure the win for Supporting Actor as Sherlock’s sidekick, Dr. Watson.
Although both actors were unable to make the LA-based ceremony, co-creator of the series, Steven Moffatt was on hand to pick up the statuettes, in his speech joking that Cumberbatch was now ‘too big to come to the Emmys’.
Ice-bucket legend, Benedict? Never…
Despite having been nominated for the last two years running, this is the first time that the actor has won – and we think it’s about time too.
As for the rest? Despite having been off the air for nearly a year now, Breaking Bad unsurprisingly led the charge, scooping wins in five main categories.
