Cheryl Cole currently is on her barnstorming home-coming national tour and earning headlines for her show-stopping stage-wear. Eager to know more, we tracked down the person responsible…
Katy Eary, the London designer and stylist, worked closely with Cheryl Cole to create some of her spectacular tour looks. She spoke exclusively to ELLEuk.com about the inspiration behind Cheryl’s look and what goes into creating a pop star’s wardrobe. She even passed us some of her sketches. (Scroll through to see them)
‘The inspiration for the look was “sports luxe”,' explained Katy. 'We wanted it to be like a vamped-up sporty look – with the harem pants cut very low on the waist, and the tapered legs. It was designed to have boxer shorts peeking out at the top. We matched the look with Isabel Marant-style wedge-heeled trainers and the hoody is shrunken to the size of a crop top. It’s glam but it’s still the perfect outfit for Cheryl to dance in.’
Katy originally started as a menswear designer, after her graduate collection from the Royal College of Art was photographed by Mario Testino. As well as designing for Cheryl, Katy has previously collaborated with Kanye West on his design debut and counts Rihanna as another high profile fan.
