Ah, funerals. Stoic occasions, where even Hannah cant be self-centred, right? Wrong. Hannah attends the celebration of her publisher Davids life at the beginning of this weeks episode. When she finds out her book is as dead as David, Hannah seems to forget her surroundings wont leave until his wife (yes, wife!) gives her the name of a new publisher. Sensitive.
All seems to go well when she meets said new publisher, but then she hits a stumbling block the contract she's already signed means her book is tied in to a contract for three years.
As usual, Shoshanna provides light relief for the viewer shes worried that her 15-year plan (I dont even have a 15-minute plan!) is under threat from her partying of late: My recent hi-jinks have really taken their toll on my GPA.
Adam and Caroline argue, yet again. This time, she suggests hes angry because hes suppressing a secret sexual desire for her. Youd think, with this sort of accusation flying around, Adam would be happy when Hannah kicks Caroline out after her dead book debacle Caroline says Hannah will never write a thing that matters and calls her a spoilt little f**king brat but no, he runs off into the night to find her. As we speculated last week, things could be on the rocks for Adam and Hannah.
Finally, we didnt predict the other coupling of the episode. Marnie heads to Rays place to ask him whats wrong with her. After he tells her, in no uncertain terms that shes extremely judgmental, unbearably uptight, and that shes a huge fat f**king phoney, he apparently redeems himself by telling her shes ultimately a good person. Then he offers her a hug, and this leads to them getting down to it. Were not sure if it will become a regular thing for the pair, but if so, Marnie makes it very clear that she wont be telling the other girls like Id advertise this.
Were looking forward to next week maybe the characters will be a bit more cheery, but we doubt it. Girls probably wouldn't be as good if they were.
