From simple, barely-there necklines to ethereal confections lavished with lace, New York’s Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2013 (October 12 – 15) offered a honey pot of inspiration for would-be brides. Here’s a round-up of the best looks from Vera Wang and Marchesa.

Vera Wang
After eschewing a traditional bridal colour palette for the last two seasons - divisive black and nude in Fall 2012, bold crimson in Spring 2013 - surprised yet again with a dramatic all-white collection.
An asymmetrical tulle garland adds interest to an ultra flattering taffeta ballgown.

A more delicate way to wear lace: the invisible neckline.

Marchesa
Having most recently designed the wedding dress of Blake Lively, which remains shrouded in secrecy, offered a spellbinding vision of layered silk and organza to suit the most fairytale of gown fantasies. Models accessorised with exquisite Miriam Haskell jewellery, in keeping with the romantic feel.

A romantic, voluminous gown, balanced with a modern, low cut bodice.

Shoulders swathed in the finest of Chantilly lace.

A shorter hemline ensures this gown has full reign to be fun, feminine and frothy.

The illusion neckline, a key trend for this season, proves just as impactful on the back.

Elsewhere, Reem Acra pre-empted Great Gatsby remake hysteria with its effervescent flapper-inspired creations; New York favourite Amsale showed classic silhouettes, revitalised with unexpected twists; while Jenny Packham sprinkled Art Deco style embellishment on gowns that recalled the golden age of cinema.
