When the world isn't talking about Meghan Markle's hair, shoe size, or exposed shoulders—they're talking about her eyebrows. Several articles hit the internet this week claiming the Duchess of Sussex debuted a new eyebrow style at the Royal Ascot. That's not exactly true, but her eyebrows do look a little different. Let's break it down.

Like most of us, Markle was a victim of over-tweezing her eyebrows years ago. Red carpet photos show that she had skinnier brows as recently as 2011, but has since been growing them out. 'We do maintenance, tinting, threading, and a bit of tweezing,' Sherille Riley, Markle's brow stylist, told People last year. 'The tint I use is brown with a hint of black which gives a really soft natural look.'

But it's not a tint that we think Markle's eagle-eyed fans are responding to—it's likely brow powder. Instead of choosing a pencil or brow gel, Markle appears to making her eyebrows look fuller and darker with the help of brow powder. In fact, her wedding make-up artist Daniel Martin allegedly used a new Dior Backstage brow powder on her for the royal wedding. You can shop all the products below.

We love the stronger, bolder brow look on Markle. You don't want your facial features to get lost under a fascinator or hat as dramatic as the one the Duchess wore to the Royal Ascot. Since bold lip colours or colourful eyes are not really permitted under royal dress code, strong brows are a way to make a beauty statement without breaking protocol. Brow powder is a little less precise than a pencil or tinted gel. It gives a more graphic finish to the front of the brow, as well as making the angles of the tail look a little softer.
