Britney Spears has been killing the fragrance game since before Kim Kardashian was even a household name. She's by far the most successful celebrity perfumer of the modern era; she's reportedly sold over $1.5 billion—BILLION—perfumes since she launched Curious in 2004.

With 23 perfumes under her belt, Spears is dropping her most ambitious perfume yet: a gender-neutral scent called Prerogative. 'Created for the woman or man who defies inhibitions and societal limitations, this unique scent fuels the confidence and determination to be whoever you want to be,' reads the brand's statement.

Spears knows that perfumes shouldn't be beholden to societal gender constructs, so this new perfume has a bottle and scent that appeals to all (though the scent, to be honest, is still quite traditionally sweet). It's worth noting that Spears isn't the first celebrity to debut a gender-neutral or unisex scent: Katy Perry launched Indi back in 2017; Pharrel Williams launched a scent called Girl with Comme des Garcons back in 2014; and who could forget the scent Unbreakable by Khloe Kardashian and then-husband Lamar Odom back in 2011.

Prerogative is described as oriental and woody, with notes of pink pepper, red goji berries, and apricot nectar upon first spritz. The middle notes are red calla lily, latex petals (Britney, we love you for this), and espresso foam. The base is warm but still light and inviting, with santal, amber wood, and saffron cream. It's a scent that's easy to love and wear, but we can't see fans of traditional oud, green, and peppery colognes tossing their bottles in favour of this.

The name of the perfume will be instantly recognisable for long-time Spears (or Bobby Brown) fans. Spears released a cover of the 1988 hit back in 2004, and even named her Greatest Hits album after the song.
