By Tom Ford, who masterminded some of the most boldly sexy and provocative looks of the '90s during his tenure at Gucci and later at his eponymous line, introduced his own scent, Tom Ford Black Orchid, back in 2006 and captured the hearts (and noses) of consumers with a rich blend of dark orchids and spice. Then came Ford's Private Blend Collection of 12 unisex scents in 2007, before he finally debuted a full colour beauty collection in 2011.
Now, Ford's latest fragrance, Lavender Extrême is anything but generically floral for spring. Taking two distinct types of lavender from France and mixing them together, Ford has created an entirely new fragrance note, layering the aroma with Italian bergamot and citrus for a fresh, yet slightly masculine scent for the warmer months. The beauty brand also selected a third lavender type, Lavender Absolue France, to amplify the scent, combining it with heady notes of Oriental tonka bean and benzoin.
Known for his best-selling, effervescent perfumes whose names often are a cheeky, play-on-words (take Fucking Fabulous, which debuted during Ford's Spring/Summer 2018 show, for instance), Tom Ford Beauty has always known how to make a splash when it comes to perfume. Housed in an all-silver, sleek bottle, Lavender Extrême is the epitome of understated glamour emblematic of the boundary-pushing designer himself.
