Backstage Beauty Blog: LFW SS16 Day Three

The food:

Oh the choices. I ate grilled salmon with quinoa salad at Topshop Unique, a pot of Potage and Alchemy juice at , a ham baguette and a packet of maltesers at Mary Katrantzou and then a lamb korma once I got home. Woman needs fuel when pounding the pavement, right?

The shows:

HIGHLIGHT: Beauty Director Sophie was backstage watching Lisa Potter-Dixon create a mermaid masterpiece with high-lit skin and glimmer shadow 'as if the mermaids had crushed shells and dabbed them in their eyes'. Cute, pretty, perfect.

HIGHLIGHT: Watching Val Garland's root lift trick on Lily Donaldson. She just wiggles the brush at the lash roots for definition, instead of dragging it through the length of the lashes. It really made them seem naturally thick.

Val had also hand picked her WHOLE make-up team from her Val Garland Mastered School of Makeup program. An amazing experience and career highlight for the crew, I'm sure.

HIGHLIGHT: We had the exclusive access to the Topshop Unique beauty test so I got to watch Hannah Murray and Anthony Turner work out the look in advance. It was exciting to see it all come together, including the very first look at the new Topshop Everything Sticks, (with the perfect texture to be used anywhere on the face for a touch of colour).

HIGHLIGHT: The faux-freckles Val Garland created with Maybelline lip pencils, liquid eyeliner and brow pencils. I also fell head over heels for what can only be described as the perfect ponytail, created by Antonio Corral Calero (who has some serious brow game).

HIGHLIGHT: 1930s Wallis Simpson inspired hair. It was parted down the centre, split into pig tails and then wrapped around each other. So simple to do, but looks intricate.

HIGHLIGHT: Somehow I tacked on the end of a congo line up the University steps to join in a private rally fronted by Vivienne herself. She didn't seem to notice I wasn't actually part of her crew. Must have been my pink eyebrows that helped me blend in.

HIGHLIGHT: Lucia Pieroni's "odd doll" eyes and Paul Hanlon's hair bow design. He used the Petersham ribbon from Mary's collection and tied it around the girl's necks and back of their hair to create a "young but sophisticated" look.
