Leighton Meester signs deal with Herbal Essences

Leighton, who stars as Blair Waldorf in the hit US show Gossip Girl, has been a fan of the brand for a while now. 'My mom used it, the kind with the clear bottle with the flowers. Now it has a new look and everything is different. I started using it because Charles [Baker Strahan, Meester’s hairdresser] uses it' Leighton told WWD.com.

Not only is Charles the US Celebrity Stylist for Herbal Essences, working with stars like Whitney Port, Jessica Szhor and Mariah Carey, he is also Leighton's mane man and the brains behind all her colour and style changes. We have an inkling Charles could have been a factor behind Herbal's decision to make Leighton its new face. Why? Leighton and he are pretty close; he lives in her building, so he can be on hair duty 24/7. Not that we're jealous or anything.

As a Global Ambassador based in the US, Leighton's role will include appearing in print advertorials, on the brand's web site and also their Facebook page. So, if Leighton could recommend one Herbal Essences product as her desert island item, what would it be? 'I would need Tousle Me Softly. That is one of my favorite products and it’s really a look that I love since my hair is stick straight' she told WWD.com.

Sadly the Tousle Me Softly range which includes shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, spray gel and finishing cream isn't available over here, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will be here so
