There’s no denying that the world is going through a rough time right now. Amid all the Coronavirus news updates, it’s important to look for the positives amongst all the negativity. Thankfully, the beauty world is paving the way for solidarity and helping those in need during this unnerving time.

We’ve rounded up he big beauty brands, the small independents, the banks and the charities that are leading the way to support the more vulnerable of us in this scary and strange time and listed how you can get involved too.

The bath and body brand have partnered with The Hygiene Bank, who work to provide hygiene essentials such as shampoo and body wash to those that can’t afford them, to help everyone feel clean.

For every purchase online or in one of their Boots stores until the 5th May, Soap & Glory will be donating a product percentage of their Clean On Me Shower Gels to The Hygiene Bank to help those in need. It's estimated 15,000 full sized bottles will be donated during this time.

‘Today, a fifth of our population are locked in poverty with more and more people relying on food banks. Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming basics that most of us take for granted,' says Lizzy Hall, founder of The Hygiene Bank.

The massive fashion conglomerate LVMH, who owns the likes of Dior, Guerlain and Louis Vuitton, announced earlier this week that they would be using three of their largest perfume factories in France to produce much-needed hand sanitiser.

The Beauty Banks

The charity was first founded in 2018 by beauty experts Jo Jones and Sali Hughes to help provide much-needed beauty essentials such as soap and tampons, all year round to those who need them most or didn't have access to them.

Typically this involved people sending in their unused beauty products but due to the hygiene issues with Coronavirus this is no longer a safe option. In response to this, Beauty Banks has come up with a solution and partnered with Go Fund Me, so you can donate money (instead of products).

The charity will purchase beauty stock from their partnered suppliers and provide emergency donations to those who need them most.

Bloody Good Period

Periods, of course, are a fact of life but the price that comes with them shouldn’t be.

At Bloody Good Period vital sanitary products are delivered to those who either can’t afford them or don’t have easy access to them, such as refugees and those living in poverty.

Periods also don’t stop in a pandemic. Instead of sending in home-bought supplies, the charity is asking people to shop supplies through their website or sponsor a period, so you can continue to support those that need it most, without the risk of contamination.
