At Valentino low ponytails were adorned with velvet ribbon moonlighting as hair bands. Bag yours from John Lewis’s haberdashery department.
This season’s take on the dolly bun is bigger and more polished. To get the look at Donna Karan you’ll need a doughnut ring, £4.60 (boots.com). Simply pull your hair into a ponytail then pop the doughnut over the top. Wrap your pony around the ring to conceal, tucking the ends under and pinning in place. Fast and fabulous.
