Whenever the Met Gala comes around, the beauty obsessive inside of us gets a little overexcited. And this year's elaborate religious-themed looks didn't disappoint.
Between Emilia Clark's OTT 80s blusher, Kate Bosworth's cherub-esque fresh face and Lily Collins' intricate braid and black crown, the hair and make-up looks were just the right amount of extra.
Our fave? Actress and Louis Vuitton darling Alicia Vikander's super cool negative space eyeliner.
Never one to let the make-up wear her, Alicia's understated nod to the evening's theme was the most wearable look to hit the red carpet.
We caught up with Vikander's go-to make-up artist on the night, Kayleen McAdams to get the low down on how to recreate the epic look IRL.
How many versions of the final eyeliner look did you try?
'I tried out a few different versions of the lines; what we liked best and what was most complimentary to her eye shape. I very lightly sketched out different variations so I could easily erase. Once we decided on the winning look, I used layers of eyeliner and tons of q-tips to get the lines sharp and set in place!'
How did Alicia's make-up work with the Catholicism theme of the evening?
'With the white collar and black and white colour palette there were some "nun" references to the look. Keeping with that inspiration, I left the skin simple, fresh and clean and stayed away from bronzer or blush. The twist was with the eyes; nothing heavy, but graphic and clean with little mascara and shadow.'
Did you lend Alicia any products to top up her make-up throughout the evening?
'I left Alicia with lots of q-tips (just in case) and the lipstick we used. Because we wanted the lip to accentuate her natural lip colour we went with a product that she could easily apply herself throughout the night to keep it looking fresh and healthy.'
How To Prep Your Skin A La Alicia
1. To start, Kayleen used Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water (£38) all over Alicia’s face to ensure flawless blending and a natural, healthy look to the skin.
2. After refreshing Alicia’s face with the cleansing water and the Rodial Vit C Brightening Mask (£65), she massaged a healthy amount of Rodial Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel (£85) into her skin to give a healthy glow.
How To Nail Alicia's Flawless Complexion
1. To complement Alicia’s freshly prepped skin, Kayleen blended Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation in Suntan (£35) all over to achieve a naturally finished complexion.
2. Then, Kayleen applied Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer in Shade 3N (£24) only where needed to highlight and perfect Alicia’s skin.
3. Finally, to set Alicia’s foundation for an all over flawless complexion, Kayleen applied Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (£29) using a Laura Mercier Velour Puff.
How To Do Alicia's Negative Space Eyeliner
1. First, Kayleen used Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Caramel (£23) all over Alicia’s eyelids. 'I wanted to use a light brown shade that matched her skin tone to keep the eye looking fresh.'

2. Inspired by the black and white print of Alicia’s dress, Kayleen applied Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Ebony (£19.50), creating graphic lines at the inner and outer corners of Alicia’s eyes using Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush (£22.50).
3. To complete the simple, fresh eye look, Kayleen finished by applying one single coat of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara (£21) to Alicia’s lashes.
How To Perfect Alicia's Nude Lip
To finish, Kayleen used Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in Vibe (£22), a rosy-toned nude shade, to accent Alicia’s natural lip colour. 'I made sure to press the colour into the lip, so it would look healthy and natural,' said Kayleen.
