Glossier really does love to surprise us, and today’s unexpected launch is one of the most major of the year so far. Seriously, we’ve not been this obsessed with an make-up drop since Futuredew arrived to bless us with the dewy baby cheeks of our dreams.

Available to buy now, Skywash is eye make-up for people who don’t do eye make-up – think hazy, soft-focus colour that can be as sheer or as intense as you desire. (Kind of like Cloud Paint but, you know, for your eyes.) If you don't have the skills, patience or predilections to craft a seven-shade smoky eye before your morning commute, this is for you.

The matte cream formula comes in seven colours: five flattering neutrals, as well as seemingly rogue green and blue hues that, actually, are our favourites of the bunch. (Try the latter with an all-camel outfit, and you'll see what we mean.) The finish is dry, almost powdery and entirely budge-proof, and looks beautiful when contrasted against a glossy cheek (hello again, Futuredew).

1.No Messing

For a soft wash of colour you can apply in the back of a cab?

'Swipe straight onto the lid with the doe-foot applicator and distribute across the eyelid with your index finger,' suggests Burton.

To build up the impact, the make-up pro advises that you 'twist the applicator onto the back of your hand, leaving a good amount of product for you to play with. Then, using a finger or brush, layer the colour to your desired intensity.'

2. A Little Precision

For a little more structure and shape, Burton advises that you use a brush to collect enough product straight from the doe-foot applicator and apply directly onto the eye. The shape of the brush will determine how intense the product is transferred.

'Flat brush – more intense, soft fluffy brush – less intense,' she explains. For serious MUA credit, copy Burton's personal favourite method and use a fluffy brush to apply a wash of colour all over the eye, right up to the brow bone.

    3. Perfect Partners

Blendable textures and complementary colours makes Skywash perfect for a little make-up experimentation.

Here are Burton’s favourite three combinations:

      PEBBLE & POOL

'The neutral taupe and cornflower blue transform into a very soft lilac when mixed,' says Burton.

'Apply a dab of each onto the eye, directly with the applicator and mix with your finger. Blend while the product is wet because the long-lasting formula doesn’t budge once dry.'

      PEBBLE & ECHO

'To create a soft winged or smokey effect, apply Pebble as a base colour and then add definition with Echo – a perfect chocolate brown,' she adds.

'I use my finger to distribute the product along the lash line.'

      PALM & SIENNA

'For those after a matte terracotta look that makes blue eyes pop – these are the colours for you!' says Burton.
