Get your Nylon bags at the ready, because Prada beauty is officially here. Entering the make-up conversation for the first time ever, Prada is expanding its beauty offering and we can almost hear the hype already.
The collection, which comprises of 26 'Monochrome' lipsticks (in hyper matte and soft matte textures), six 'Dimensions' eyeshadow quads (each inspired by a classic Prada print), a lip balm, 33 AI-driven shades of 'Reveal' foundation, three 'Augmented Skin' skincare products and an edit of ten brushes and tools, is a creative clash of Miuccia Prada's signature vibrant colour palette and tech-driven textures; a true reflection of the fashion house's iconic collision of artistry and innovation.
'My brief was to bring to life the Prada archive of prints and patterns and colour and vibrancy and try to encapsulate it in a beauty product,' Global Creative Make-Up Artist for Prada Beauty, Lynsey Alexander told ELLE UK. 'One of the biggest challenges was editing that wardrobe of colour and making the lipstick shades really Prada, really relevant, really beautiful and really wearable.'
The brand's lo-fi luxury-meets-phygital-future trademark continues in their collaboration with Alexander and also internationally recognised digital artist, Ines Alpha, who combines the real and the virtual to build a new future within the beauty space. 'I worked on creating the line with Ines - her work is all about pixels and mine is all about pigments,' says Alexander. 'We'd get a brief to make a lipstick, she'd go away and create the colour digitally and I'd create them physically, then we'd compare and steal bits from each other. It brought a whole new dimension of creativity to the process and the collection.'
Although the fashion house might be treading a path already well-travelled by its Milan fashion week peers, Prada's beauty offering is breaking away from the crowd with high performance formulas, an avant-garde aesthetic and a commitment to user-first functionality.
'Mrs Prada is all about function as well as form, so the eyeshadows had to be palettes, not singles,' Alexander says. 'The structure of the four shades mean you've got a harmony of three neutral shades that work together and then one pop of rebellious colour. I wanted them to work not only on the runway, but in real life as well.'

Maximising on their cult-creating (and money-making) triangle, the sci-fi luxe chrome finish packaging is refillable, and, (almost) more importantly, undeniably Prada. Pistachio green lid interiors, lipstick bullets with Saffiano 'leather' finishes and a brand new fragrance created by master perfumer Daniela Andrier (the nose behind the brand’s fragrance collection of Les Infusions de Prada), are just some of the thoughtful details that endlessly serve to remind you that Prada know exactly what they're doing.
Need we tell you, it's a run don't walk situation.
