This spring, it’s all about three major trends: Florals, transparency and monogramming are back with a modern twist. And while the looks are wearable off the catwalk, that doesn't mean you can't put your own unique spin on them.

To show the versatility of the trends, which feature prominently in the Max Mara SS18 collection, we asked stylish women from three fashion capitals to work them into their own aesthetic.

Read on to see how Soraya Bahktiar, Inès Mélia and Elena Salmistraro styled the three trends to suit their own personal tastes and represent their cities - London, Paris and Milan.

Soraya Bakhtiar - London

Soraya Bakhtiar is a Swiss-born blogger and fashion influencer currently living in London. Her Egyptian and Middle Eastern heritage along with her love of travelling has led her to be inspired by diversity.

What does fashion mean to you?

It's a way of expressing yourself not only through the clothes you wear but also through the way you mix and style them.

How would you describe your style?

Bohemian, colourful, and elegant.

What's the most London thing about your look?

Most likely the mix-and-match of colours and prints.

Where are your three favourite places to go in London?

Notting Hill is my favourite for a walk and a nice lunch at Chucs. For dinner or drinks after hours, I’d rather go to the Blakes Hotel. And finally I'd choose my hairdresser Aldo Coppola.

Which of your three looks did you like the most?

I loved the floral jacket: it has that retro vibe I love so much.

ELLE says: The floral jacket combined with light denim is an outfit that will remain a spring wardrobe go-to.

Inès Mélia - Paris

Inès Mélia is a Parisian DJ and has played the best clubs on the scene, from Silencio to Les Bains. She also brings her unique sound outside the club, curating music for fashion shows and exhibitions.

What does fashion mean to you?

Having fun. You should never take it too seriously.

How would you describe your style?

Classic, timeless and fun.

What's the most Parisian thing about your look?

Probably my beret. I know it might seem like a cliché, but I've always adored it.

Where are your three favourite places to go in Paris?

The Providence Hotel, which is super close to my house, is the perfect spot to have a coffee outside and pretend to be a tourist in my own city. Then there’s my favourite music shop, Smallville in Rue Chateau D’Eau, and my dear bakery, Du Pain et Des Idées Paris. They have the best bread in Paris.

Which of your three looks did you like the most?

I liked the camel trench. I love its lightness and transparency, thus it’s incredibly easy to pair and it can be the perfect final touch both to a classy outfit and to a more casual ensemble.

ELLE says: We like the reinterpretation of '70s trends, for example combining the camel-coloured trench coat with a pair of flared patchwork jeans.

Elena Salmistraro - Milan

Elena is an artist and designer from Milan. After graduating ten years ago she founded her own studio and has built a name for herself in the industry working on prominent architectural and design projects.

Clothing, Dress, Beauty, Fashion, Gown, Street fashion, Headpiece, Headgear, Hair accessory, Day dress,

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion, to me, is creativity, intuition and the representation of current times.

How would you describe your style?

Colourful, chaotic and detailed.

What's the most Italian thing about your look?

My femininity.

Where are your three favourite places to go in Milan?

Fioraio Bianchi is a magical spot to dine surrounded by an almost surreal atmosphere. The Pinacoteca of Brera is an endless source of emotions and inspiration. And of course, a stone's throw from my house, the Rossana Orlandi Gallery - with the new BistRo by Aimo and Nadia right next door.

Which of your three looks did you like the most?

It was the floral dress without any doubts: it hit me with its simplicity and, when we paired it with a violet turban, it came through in all its beauty.

ELLE says: The turban adds an elegant yet original touch.
