Doria Ragland looked radiant in a pistachio coloured Oscar de la Renta dress and matching coat for Harry and Meghan's royal wedding, and now the creative directors of the US fashion label have shared intimate details about dressing the mother-of-the-bride.

Co-creative leads Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia revealed that it was the Duchess of Sussex who initially got in touch because she wanted an American label at her wedding to represent her nationality.

'Meghan Markle's assistant sent us an email one night and said she would like to speak to you guys about something and this was a few months before the royal wedding so that was quite an alarming email to receive (laughs),' Garcia told Buro.

'I was like, there's no way she doesn't have her wedding dress figured out yet but it wasn't that and it was a very pleasant phone call. She wanted to have an American designer represented in the royal wedding because she's American.'

Kim and Garcia also disclosed that after flying out to meet Doria, the 'sweet' social worker greeted them at the fitting with snacks.

'Yeah [it was Meghan that called us] and then we flew to LA to meet Doria and she brought us snacks to the fitting,' Garcia recalled. 'They were healthy snacks because she's a runner.'

'She's so sweet,' Kim effused. 'Her snacks were so cute too. Yeah it wasn't like cookies, it was very thought out.'

Garcia said that they gave Doria two options for her outfit, continuing:'We had a few months, it was enough time. We gave her two options, given the weather and she went with the pistachio colour.'

The directors added their current Resort Collection is inspired by the pastel tones of Doria's royal wedding outfit.

'We started looking to porcelains; it was during the time when we were working with Meghan Markle's mother on her outfit [for the royal wedding] so it has the pastel tones,' Kim said.

'It is extremely feminine, the Resort, as we wanted to do that through soft dresses, florals, easy-to-wear pieces. It's transitional.'

It was recently reported that Doria may be relocating to London to be closer to the duchess following her baby announcement. The duke and duchess will welcome their first child in spring 2019.
