Virgil Abloh is launching his own brand starting with a jewellery collection inspired by paper clips. The designer, who is famed for his twisted sportswear at Off-White, will unveil a pop-up store at Hôtel Costes 17 to 29 January to coincide with the men’s ready-to-wear and women’s couture shows in Paris.

Abloh shared a preview on his Instagram page, featuring two images - one of himself wearing one of the necklaces - and another of the brand's packaging.

WWD reports that the range will also be shown alongside new trainer and handbag designs for Off-White. Abloh revealed that the pop-up will also sell bouquets of his favourite flowers.

"It’s a necklace, there’s earrings, there’s an accessory," Abloh said of his jewellery collection, which has been three years in the making. "The idea is like high jewellery for all. It’s a crash — it’s a paper clip, but it’s also pavé diamonds made in a very specific way."

The collection will be available to buy via pre-orders. The designer is in demand - in addition to his work at Off-White, Louis Vuitton hired him as new menswear creative director in March 2018. His brand collaborators are long and varied, with names such as Ikea, Umbro and Jimmy Choo.

it may comes as a surprise to many, Abloh said that he has a goal of quitting fashion to run a florist.

“When I’m old and done, I will be in some remote town somewhere owning a flower shop," he said. "I have the concept already done. But that’s what I’m into most. It’s going to be super weird, super remote. I’ll be over it all and I’ll just be, like, putting creativity into bouquets. Who knows, it might be soon?”
