The most anticipated show of the season and something of a swan song for the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel's AW19 catwalk just took place at the Grand Palais in Paris.

As ever, the Chanel show's set was indescribably detailed, transporting show goers into an alpine wonderland.

The fashion spectacle was prefaced with a sweet, sombre one minute's silence, in memory of Lagerfeld, during which the models appeared in a line at the top of the set, to pay their respects. The silence was then broken by the sound of Karl's voice over the venue's tannoy.

After which, model Cara Delevingne opened the show, with the '90s supers watching from the front row.

In place of show notes, attendees discovered a place card displaying a fashion illustration depicting Lagerfeld, complete with the phrase 'the beat goes on.'

This is not the first time that the Chanel brand has paid tribute to the designer. After releasing an initial statement announcing his passing, the store fronts in capital cities such as London changed their window displays, in order to observe the period of mourning.
