Cindy Crawford is the 90s supermodel that gifted us a great many things , beauty spots of course, the sassiest walk to emulate and also, most recently, her mini-me Kaia Gerber.
2017 has been the year of the mother-daughter modelling duo.
Walking the same shows over twenty years apart, you'd be forgiven for having some deja vu with the young 16 year-old Gerber looking the spitting image of her 51 year-old mother.
And Crawford has come out to defend her decision to let her teen daughter make her fashion month debut this year.
She spoke to the Associated Press about Gerber starting her career at such a young age, rationalising that modelling often starts young, heck, she did too, 'In some ways, I wish I could have pushed it off a year or two. But she's 16. That's how old I was when I started, which is young, but in fashion that's kind of the normal age when people start.'
In fact, modelling is the least of Crawford's concerns, since Gerber has just gotten her driver's licence, 'My daughter just got her driver's licence. I'm a lot more concerned about her driving by herself than her entering the world of modelling,'
And Crawford has good reason, 'The great thing for my kids is that I know a lot about that world. I feel like: Who better to help guide them than me?'
In fact, it was only last week that we saw Crawford give a little 'how-to' on the Versace runway.
Gerber, alongside the rest of the millennial model crew of the Hadid sisters, Kendall Jenner and more were ever-so-slightly trumped by the finale look of Crawford, Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen in chainmail dresses.
Crawford explained:
I didn't know my daughter was doing that show. The models themselves don't really get booked until the day before or two days before. And finally Kaia got booked for it, and I said, 'You know I'm doing that show, right?', she's like, 'Wait, do we have to walk down together?' I said, 'No. I don't even want to walk down with you. I'm going to walk down with the ladies that are my age. You can go with the girls that are your age.'
Considering Gerber's learning from a woman who's still modelling at the age of 51, we think she's going to be just fine.
