Melania Trump wore a dramatic yellow gown for an evening with officials at Blenheim Palace last night, and comparisons to Disney princesses were immediately being drawn on social media.

The First Lady has accompanied President Trump on his controversial two-day UK visit, opting for an off-the-shoulder caped gown by J. Mendel and silk pumps by Manolo Blahnik for the black-tie dinner at Winston Churchill's birthplace.

Melania walked hand-in-hand with her husband as they left the US Ambassador's London residence near Regent's Park after landing at London's Stansted on Thursday afternoon.

Some Twitter users pointed out that Melania's gown looked similar to Belle's iconic ballgown from Beauty and the Beast, thereby likening the president to the latter.

The Trumps are due to have tea with the Queen at Windsor Palace this afternoon, with Her Majesty welcoming the president and First Lady at the dais in the quadrangle of the castle.

The Queen has previously met three other US presidents at Windsor, including President Barack Obama with Michelle Obama in 2016, President George W. Bush with Laura Bush in 2008, and President Ronald Reagan with Nancy Reagan in 1982.

Trump and Melania's engagement has not been welcomed with the pomp and pageantry of a state visit due to planned protests scheduled across London and beyond.

All of his meetings with officials have been arranged away from the seat of government in the capital, so he will most likely avoid any clashes with the public.

Protestors plan to fly a giant 'Trump Baby' balloon over Britain's Houses of Parliament today (13 July). Following tea with the Queen, Trump is due to fly to Scotland's Turnberry resort for some golf.
