Style shapeshifters don’t come more chameleonic than Kylie Jenner. From barely-there bikinis to blink-and-you’ll-miss-them dresses, there have been few stars more willing to embrace fashion’s most outré of ensembles than the youngest member of the Kardashian klan.

The tide, however, seems to be changing. In the most recent outfit picture the reality star posted to her Instagram, Kylie sported a floaty romantic-style dress courtesy of Californian label, Doên. The entrepreneur left tendrils of hair naturally loose around her face but kept her signature make-up style, which has left eagle-eyed fans wondering precisely what – or, indeed, who – is behind Kylie’s recent makeunder. The answer is sister styling duo, Alexandra and Mackenzie Grandquist.

The youngest Jenner has previously relied upon the styling services of Dani Michelle, Monica Rose and Jill Jacobs, the latter of whose clients include Sofia Richie and Khloe Kardashian, but it would appear that Kylie’s recent pared-back aesthetic is the brainchild of the Grandquists.

The sisters, who first met Kylie during her relationship to the father of her children Travis Scott, were born in West Des Moines, Iowa and relocated to the City of Angels to study at Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2010. After assisting in the styling of Rihanna and Scott, among a slew of others, Kylie came calling – and so began the paring back of one of fashion’s most experimental muses.

'I have always loved that Kylie can pull off so many different vibes and looks—that to me is interesting, fun and challenging in a good way,' Mackenzie said in an interview last year. '[Kylie] is always sending us inspo, ideas and what she is loving as well. We are constantly creating mood boards and finding inspiration from all over. Searching for new designers, new looks, the search truly never ends. From there we have a fitting to find the perfect look for her and the specific event. We never stop the research process and try to keep as in tune with her as possible.'

As if the one floral Doên dress she recently wore isn’t proof enough of Kylie's makeunder, on a trip to Paris in May, she flexed her minimal muscles even more. On a trio of appearances in the City of Light, Kylie proved that she’s as capable of executing pared-back ensembles as she is those of the more out-there variety. She began her three appearances in a crisp cotton poplin midi dress, which she followed with a white fit-and-flare Chanel mini dress (worn with black court shoes, no less). The icing on the sartorial cake came courtesy of a black Bottega Veneta balloon-hemmed halterneck dress and the label’s Sardine handbag.

We have officially entered Kylie Jenner's makeunder era. Pared-back perfection at its finest.
