Gossip Girl, Nicola Formichetti to launch collections

‘You know you love me,’ Gossip Girl says at the end of every show. Now, thanks to a new clothing collection inspired by the series, fans will be able to dress like the characters they love to watch.

Production company Warner Bros. has partnered with a licensee to create a full line inspired by Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, WWD reported. The collection of embellished tops, chiffon dresses and Upper East Side-ready jumpers will enter US retailers in time for the series premiere on 26 September.

Meanwhile, Mugler creative director and Lady Gaga collaborator Formichetti, who is also Uniqlo’s fashion director, has created a new line of streetwear for the Japanese retailer.

Called Uniqlo Innovation Project, the collection features parkas, hoodies and tracksuit bottoms in poppy colours and futuristic fabrics. The Formichetti angle comes in the zip-off sections and sleek shapes.

‘You want to be stylish when you’re doing sports, too. This is an introduction and I’m really excited,’ he told Fashionista.
