Beyonce runs the show at LFW

The buzziest scene at London Fashion Week took place not in a tent or a lofty venue, but in a car park.

Thats the Selfridges car park, to be exact, where hordes of celebrities and fashion editors flocked for Beyonces launch presentation of her House of Dereon line.

The front row read like a Radio 1 chart-show playlist. Chipmunk chatted up some Saturdays while Eliza Doolittle posed for the paps. Alexandra Burke, Mr Hudson, Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, Rachel Stevens, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Winstone and more than a few international editors filled the benches.

Its safe to say that the draw here wasnt the clothes. Certainly, there was a collective sense of curiosity as to whether the singer could design as well as she dresses. But a desire to know how House of Dereon would capture the sartorial moment didnt keep status-conscious attendees pinned to their seats through an increasingly steamy delay.

This was a case of force of personality attracting fresh-faced fashion weekers and jaded veterans alike. Everyoneeveryonewanted to see Queen B. And after an hour of waiting (apparently for no-show Gwyneth Paltrow), they got what they came for.

The show started with a post-apocalyptic montage and voice-over about the ongoing battle to save humanity, which apparently would lead to cultural/stylistic mingling. Alright, so far, so Who Runs the World (Girls) videobut what about the clothes?
