Met Gala 2022: Getting Ready With 'Eternals' Star Gemma Chan
The actor let us into her getting ready process and Louis Vuitton look ahead of the Met Gala 2022.
If there was one star we could rely on to bring the glitz, glamour and sophistication the Met Gala 2022 deserves, it was always going to be Gemma Chan.
In 2019 the Crazy Rich Asians star sparkled in an Elizabeth Taylor-inspired chainmail dress by Tom Ford, accessorised with a dramatic Boom!-esque headdress. Meanwhile, last year the actor paid homage to Hollywood’s first Chinese-American star, Anna May Wong, after teaming up with Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung on a black sequinned mini dress emblazoned with a dragon motif, finished with a dramatic pastel green train.
Following on from the Met Gala 2021's 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion' theme, this year the event celebrated part two of the accompanying exhibition, 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion'. The dress code? 'Gilded Glamour, White-Tie' - think Gilded Age-inspired corsets, bouffant hair dos and enough diamonds than Tiffany & Co. come Christmas.
Ahead of the night, former ELLE UK cover star Chan invited us to get ready with her, from sitting in the make-up chair to stepping into her archival Louis Vuitton look. For the gala the 39-year-old wore a black and silver structured LV dress with a boxy structured knee high-slit skirt, and an embellished cape worn over her shoulders. The actor styled her exquisite ensemble with a pair of black stilettos and chunky silver jewellery from the Maison.
