Ashkenazi is understood to have sought fashion holdings for some time. Her investment will fuel Vionnets global development, starting with the opening of a dedicated boutique in Paris.
Ashkenazi told WWD she was delighted to join the Vionnet family, which is, without a doubt, already a success story. I admire all that the brand represents, including the team behind what has been created so far based on the principles and vision of Madeleine Vionnet.
She will also serve as a brand ambassador, wearing Vionnet gowns to high-profile events including Thursdays amfAR gala in Cannes.
Madeleine Vionnet founded her fashion house in 1912 and investors Matteo Marzotto and Gianni Castiglioni revived it in 2009.
Co-creative directors (and twin sisters) Barbara and Lucia Croce presented in an intimate presentation at Paris Fashion Week in March. This October, the house will mount its first full-scale runway show since 1939, in celebration of its 100th anniversary.
