Lagerfeld's new wheels

Lagerfeld made his first outing as the face of Volkswagen on German TV last week, with an advert in which the Chanel designer endorses mid-priced cars.

The ad for Volkswagen Style, a package of extras like alloy rims, tinted privacy glass, sunroofs, etc. for VW’s Golf and Polo models, features Lagerfeld snapping away in a car showroom.

He declares the cars ‘stylish enough for Paris’ (or something – French a bit rusty over at ELLE HQ) before a handsome assistant (ahem, Baptiste Giabiconi) informs him that actually, they’re German.

Vas? Lagerfeld drive? Never.
