The ELLE survey: How do you feel about turning 30?

'The ELLE survey reveals a seismic shift in the way women live today' says ELLE editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy.

Dubbed as the Me-Generation, woman today seem to have rejected the ideal they had ten years ago, which was to sideline family and marriage in favour of a successful career with 70% of women surveyed telling us that they now prioritise relationships over careers in their thirties.

A massive 80% also believe that 30 is the perfect age to get engaged, with 43% agreeing that thirty is also the best age to have a baby.

But this isn't to say that women are not confident at work, or are opting out of their careers to have children because of the current economic climate. 59% feel more confident despite the recession with 55% expecting to become more financially secure once turning thirty.

'It's a feminist victory' says Candy, 'It's up to women whether they want a challenging career or to work on their relationships. Whatever they choose, no one is judging.'
