London star Erdem, plus all the highlights from fashion week

The Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth were the soundtrack to this collection inspired by fifties Teddy Girls and the artist Peter Doig. The result; sharp, lean tailored jackets and skinny trousers juxtaposed with lava explosion, thermographic and cosmic prints. There was also an exploration into 50s, debutante chic - this was evident in the duo's lady like dresses, which alluded to fifties glamour but were made suitably edgy with the Doig-esque prints.

Danielle Scutt

Printed chiffon, silk jumpsuits and cropped, baggy, denim pants ticked summer 09s trend boxes at Danielle Scutt. This young designer goes from strength to strength each season and is growing up into one of London’s chicest and sexiest womenswear designers. Fluid jersey, silk edge to edge jackets made a refreshing change to the mannish blazers seen on most other catwalks this week.

Margaret Howell

Margaret Howell wants us to go back to school this spring with her straw boaters, sporty anoracks and preppy gingham dresses. Classic bretton striped tops worn with high cut gym shorts were a new addition for summer 09, while this season’s Howell staples come in black, navy and slate grey with pops of pillar box red.
