Kanye supports Katie Eary at LFW

One of fewer than 100 onlookers at the intimate off-site show, West tapped his foot to his ‘Hell of a Life’ and ‘N****s in Paris’ as he watched Eary’s looks sail down the runway.

Those looks consisted of graphic animal-print tunics, Perspex Puma-adorned sports-mesh dresses worn over thong bodysuits, and marabou-covered chiffon tops. A sheer ostrich-feather-strewn finale gown (pictured, with West looking on from the far right) was shown over star-studded knickers. The show marked Eary’s first foray into womenswear after gaining industry credibility as a menswear designer to watch. For the boys, she put forward gold gator-embossed leather jackets and wicker fishing baskets that made surprisingly convincing propositions as the new urban carry-alls.

West’s presence confirmed what has for weeks been an open industry secret: that Eary is collaborating with the rapper on his forthcoming fashion venture, expected to launch with an exclusive show during Paris Fashion Week.

After the show, West (who declined to comment) sauntered backstage to congratulate Eary and told her that he was heading ‘back to the studio.’

‘I’ll be there tomorrow,’ she responded. ‘For the next eight days—we’re going to hammer this out,’ she said before turning to this reporter for a brief, elated interview.

‘I absolutely love working with him,’ the designer said. ‘He’s such a dedicated designer. It’s not what everybody would think—he’s more dedicated than I am. The time and the travel that he puts in is unbelievable. I feel jealous at his commitment.’

Eary said that she has been working with West for the past four months. ‘We bounce ideas off each other, sketch on the same page... we make a really good team. He’s obviously piloting it, and we’re working alongside,’ she said, refusing to name anyone else
