Topshop goes West with Chicago store

Topshop extended its bid for global clothes domination with yesterdays opening of its first store in Chicago.

Miley Cyrus joined Sir Philip Green for the grand opening, waving to a queue of shoppers eager to snap up exclusive Chicago tees and other London-like designs.

Any UK visitors to the Chicago store might experience a sense of retail déjà vu, as the newest Topshop location was modelled on the brands Oxford Circus flagship.

The store represents Greens second US branch, following the opening of a New York store in 2009. The Arcadia boss has high hopes for the new store, promising its 200 staffers that hell personally deliver all the Champagne they could drink if sales exceed $1m in the first three days of trading.

Even so, Green is already looking forward to the next stepsVegas. Just add slots, and well be there...
