Chanel smash-and-grab averted

London police officers foiled a band of smash-and-grab raiders as they attempted to burgle Chanels Bond Street store earlier this week.

Scotland Yard said that six suspects riding three stolen motorcycles tried to break into the store late Monday evening. Officers in an unmarked police car rammed one of the motorcycles as the other two fled.

One suspect suffered a broken leg during the operation and was taken to hospital, while his uninjured companion was arrested at the scene. The remaining four suspects escaped without any stolen goods.

The attempted raid follows similar burglaries at Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo and Anya Hindmarch.

Chanel may be the latest in a string of luxury brands to suffer smash-and-grab raids, but it is the only one whose models were styled as cat burglars during the recent haute couture shows. Whats that they say about life and art?
