SJP departs from Halston Heritage

The label synonymous with '70s glamour hasn’t issued any formal announcement about Parker’s departure, but a profile in the current issue US Vogue refers to the star’s leadership of Halston Heritage as ‘a relationship that recently came to an end.’

One explanation of her quiet exit could lie in friction over executive changes. Parker was a major supporter of former Halston CEO Bonnie Takhar, becoming ‘visibly upset’ (i.e., crying at work) when she learned of Takhar’s ouster in November last year.

Then again, it could just be that Parker—a mother of three young children, a movie star, a TV producer and a red-carpet fixture—no longer had the time required to meet her significant-sounding obligations. After all, this is the woman who told US ELLE the following about her dedication to the Halston role:

‘I said, “Please know this now: I will never do this for a title. I will never dip in and out of this. I’ll do it like everything else I’ve ever done. I’ll be involved down to the splitting of the atom.”’

Parker has been the brand’s most avid and visible devotee, wearing Halston Heritage pieces to innumerable press appearances and throughout Sex and the City 2 (who could forget that little white dress?).

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that Parker has diversified her red-carpet choices of late. Might she be considering another, less time-consuming fashion role, perhaps in advisory capacity for a smaller house? Time will tell. And when we know, we’ll tell you.
