Balenciaga is one of the most celebrated fashion brands in the world.
The original designer, Cristóbal Balenciaga was famed for his use of unexpected shapes, letting the fabric dictate form and revolutionising ideas of femininity in clothing, creating the bubble hem, sack dress and more.
Now that Vetements' Demna Gvasalia is at the helm of the brand, he is being similarly playful, toying with traditional aspects of design.
Extending his almost ironic aesthetic to the historic brand, Gvasalia's use of quotidian referencing has split the internet.
Elevating the Ikea bag, croc, Bernie Sanders' logo and so much more has, inevitably, divided many and the internet isn't done being bemused yet.
Next up on Twitter's chopping block is this AW/17 skirt.
Some people have discussed its similarity to a car mat.
And whilst this makes us dream of ways to successfully fashion our car mat into skirts, others have had different thoughts:
One brand that we never thought would comment on Balenciaga is British catalogue company, Argos.
According to Dazed, a spokesperson from Argos has said, 'It's fabulous to see such a well-respected fashion brand taking inspiration from the everyday car mat and we're flattered that the skirt bears a close resemblance to our Cosmos Duro All Weather Car Mat.'
You can buy the car mat here for £14.99, and, of course, the Balenciaga original for £1,795, you decide.
