Thankfully, the latest output from the Gucci Continuum Collection, Barbour for Gucci, has proven fashion house fraternisation can still feel fresh.

Crafted from pre-loved Barbour jackets, rewaxed and restored, the heritage designs have been reimagined with deadstock materials from Gucci. Fusing British practical sensibilities and with Italian flair, Barbour Pre-Loved have created 12 one-of-a-kind styles (that's eight jackets, three gilets, and a bucket hat - all perfect for countryside traipsing) built around the four themes of Flora, Equestrianism, English Gardens and Evening,

Our personal favourite from the romantic collection has to be the red corduroy and velvet Beaufort jacket, which will help anyone channel the kind of zany aristocracy seen in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn. But, far from being wear-once costumes, these items have been expertly made to last a lifetime by skilled machinists in Barbour's South Shields Factory.

‘The partnership presented a real unique challenge and opportunity, working with iconic Gucci tapestries and delicate silk fabrics that are very different to the robust wax cotton we are used to working with at Barbour,' explains Barbour's senior design and development manager Gary Janes.

'Barbour Re-Loved and Gucci Continuum are two very worthy and current ways of thinking about fashion, reutilising, existing product and fabrics to really minimise the impact on the environment – remodelling and taking care of garments so they can be enjoyed for many years to come.'

For those lucky enough to have nabbed Glastonbury tickets, pairing one of these iconic jackets with a pair of classic Hunter wellies will see you sit comfortable in the sartorial hall of fame next to Kate Moss and her sparkly mini and Alexa Chung and her knee high socks, denim cut-off combo. While the rest of us less inclined to spend a weekend ankle deep in mud can simply pair ours with vintage denim and boots for wholesome weekend activities. Either way, Barbour for Gucci's thoughtful collaboration is one we're willing to invest in.
