Just when we thought we couldn’t be any more obsessed with Reformation, the sustainable brand has expanded its offering into swimwear. Launching today, everyone's favourite planet-friendly fashion name has dropped a line of vintage-inspired bikinis and swimsuits that look effortlessly chic, with eco credentials to boot.
If memory serves you well, you might recall Reformation launching swimwear back in 2019. The small edit was made from ECONYL nylon – a regenerated textile derived from ocean and landfill waste with the potential to be infinitely recyclable. It was undoubtedly a hit, but after testing the waters, Reformation decided to head back to the drawing board because the fabric wasn’t quite sustainable enough.
After realising that anything synthetic, even recycled synthetics, release microplastics when put through the wash, Reformation partnered with Italian fabric manufacturer Fulgar to trial a biobased textile called EVO. This soft, renewable fabric is plastic-free and comes from the castor plant, which does not require lots of water to grow. While the majority of Reformation Swim is cut from EVO, there is a small portion that makes use of leftover ECONYL from the previous collection, in an effort to reduce waste.
The new and improved Reformation Swim – which is supported by a frankly stellar campaign starring Tina Kunakey – is designed to seamlessly transition from the beach to the bar, and pairs beautifully with the brand’s best-selling vacation dresses and separates. One-piece swimsuits and elegant bikinis come in classic, solid colours and signature dotted, checked, and floral prints, with sized running from XS to XL.
