Fall/Winter 1986 RTW and Spring/Summer 1994 Couture
We love these looks from early collections – the signature tweed skirt suit interpreted for the times: 80s power shoulders and an early 90s Clueless-style miniskirt with chain belt.

Fall/Winter 2006 Couture
This sharp, graphic, leggy collection had a 60s cool-girl feel which still holds plenty of appeal. Spring/Summer 2007 RTW
This show was a modern take on the Chanel classics – tweed jackets worn with chunky gold chains and pearl necklaces, and black sequin shorts, skirts and mini white shirtdresses. And the shoes! Plastic-lucite-glitter wedge platforms – we still want these years later.
Nuits d'Été translates as Summer Nights, and Karl whisked us off to a 50s Grease-inspired Americana dreamworld of stars-and-stripes prints and blue-denim everything.
Karl’s starting point for this collection was a clean sheet of paper, which was cut up and intricately folded into the most beautiful flower headpieces. Pretty, white and apparently simple – but upon closer inspection the 3D detailing was extraordinary. Timeless and breath-takingly beautiful.
The most fun and most extravagant Chanel show ever? Karl imported a genuine iceberg from Scadanavia for this Artic-themed show. Models waded across a watery 'sea' and frozen landscape in giant faux-fur yeti boots (and signature tweed skirt suits of course). This show couldn’t help but bring a smile to the faces of the fashion pack.
