Charles & Keith understand how to make a great shoe. Back in 2017, on my quest to find the perfect kitten heel during the teeny tiny heel renaissance, the Singaporean retailer is was where my search started and was happily fulfilled. Boasting a sleek, black heel and a dainty ankle strap, it was love at first click. When attending a friend's birthday during the height of winter a few weeks later, it was my Charles & Keith heels that I plucked from my shoe rack and I left the soirée having shared the exact kitten-heel link with two more intrigued fashion enthusiasts, who still wax lyrical about the heels to this day.
Then, last year, when news of the brand collaborating with It-Girl-approved label ShuShu/Tong hit – think glossy Mary Janes and rose-adorned evening bags – I rejoiced along with a cohort of fashion plates. Within a few clicks my wallet was a tad lighter and another pair of patent heels was about to reign supreme in my footwear rotation.
And, the allure doesn't stop in the shoe category. Along with an abundance of glossy loafers and sweeter-than-sweet heels that would convert the biggest of sneaker-heads, the brand offers a treasure trove of practical bags in a melting pot of colours, which will have you eschewing your muted work tote for something a little sleeker. Suffice to say, I'm a loyalist to the brand.
TikTok has the power to ensure cult pieces spread like wildfire – and trust me, Charles & Keith knows the recipe for success better than anyone. Perhaps you stumbled across the brand via your 'For You Page' when its chunky buckle boots sent users into a frenzy (one video currently brings up 36K views on the platform). Or perhaps it's the consistently selling-out Gabine bag, worn in real life by Sienna Miller, that first stole your heart. Either way, welcome to the club.
