First Lady Melania Trump totally outdid herself last night, sartorially at least. The former model and First Lady wore a dazzling Chanel gown for a state dinner at the White house.

The mother and anti-bullying activist welcomed the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife, Brigitte Macron, for dinner during their two-day visit wearing a sleeveless Chanel gown.

Both of the glamorous women wore French labels, Brigitte in a white and gold Louis Vuitton, and Melania in the silver number.

Her Chanel dress had a sheer neckline and hem, as well as a low back.

Yesterday, Melania went for another bold sartorial look in a white, asymmetric Michael Kors suit, complete with wide-brimmed hat, for the French couple's state visit.

Whilst we are all here for this daring yet chic ensemble, obviously the internet had something to say - comparing her hat to Beyoncé’s in her visual album Lemonade.

Adopting Queen B's lyrics for song 'Formation', Twitterers joked about Melania's perceived complicity in her husband's policies.

And, despite the Presidential couple holding hands multiple times during the French couple's visit, there was one moment the internet could not get enough of - Donald trying to hold his wife's hand, and failing. Again.

Don, stop trying to hold her hand, let the woman come to you. Please.
