Singer FKA Twigs has shared that she has had six fibroid tumours removed from her uterus in a powerful Instagram post.

Opening up about the surgery that she had last December, FKA Twigs revealed she felt that her 'confidence as a woman was knocked' and that in sharing a video of her dancing today (May 9) she hopes she can 'let go of the pain'.

In the caption, the singer describes the six tumours as being the size of two cooking apples, three kiwis and a couple of strawberries, with the nurse saying that 'the weight and size was like being 6 months pregnant'.

'I tried to be brave but it was excruciating at times and to be honest I started to doubt if my body would ever feel the same again,' she added.

'I had surgery in December and I was so scared, despite lots of love from friends and family I felt really alone and my confidence as a woman was knocked.'

She continued to add that she'd hit a turning point in her recovery while performing a choreographed routine recently, saying that she felt like her strong self again and that it was 'magical'.

'Thank you precious body for healing, thank you for reminding me to be kind to myself, you are a wonderful thing, now go create and be other once again,' she said.

'I know that a lot of women suffer from fibroid tumours and I just wanted to say after my experience that you are amazing warriors and that you are not alone. you can get through this.and with this I let go of the pain... love always twigs.'

Alongside her music, FKA Twigs has recently been working on her 'Instagram magazine' AVANTGarden, with the third issue dropping on her Instagram page earlier this month.
