HBO has released a fresh look at the TV adaptation of Sharp Objects, and honestly, next month's launch cannot come soon enough.

The minute-and-a-half-long trailer sees five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams as reporter Camille Preaker returning to Wind Gap to investigate the murder of two young girls.

In case you missed the announcement last week, the premiere of the eight-part miniseries will be simulcast on HBO and Sky Atlantic, meaning that UK viewers can stay up and tune in at 2am UK time on Monday, July 9.

Of course, Sky Atlantic will then repeat the episode at 9pm at night.

Sydney Sweeney, who features in the HBO miniseries, recently told Digital Spy that the adaptation will have a 'Big Little Lies feeling, but it's much darker and way more twisted'.

The actress will play Alice, a character who Camille meets during her stay at a psychiatric hospital.

'Alice cuts herself so that's where Amy's character and my character start to bond over the shared experience,' she said.

'She becomes very close to Camille and they form a mother/daughter/sister type relationship, and it affects Camille's character very strongly.'

Sharp Objects will air on Sky Atlantic in the UK and on HBO in the US.
