Beyoncé and Jay-Z started their joint On the Run II tour together last night in Cardiff, Wales. These two are established masters of putting on deep, intricate performances, so naturally last night's show was packed with powerful vocals, great dancing, and messages about themselves and their relationship.
The two performed 42 songs, but the biggest moments were in the interlude videos they shared. New footage of Blue Ivy Carter was shown in one, while the almost one-year-old twins Sir and Rumi Carter appear in footage of what seems to be a wedding vow renewal ceremony that Beyoncé and Jay-Z had. This is the second time a photo of the twins has been shown publicly since their birth:
The couple also acknowledged their 2014 Met Gala elevator drama by entering on stage in an elevator shaft. (Back then, Solange Knowles, Bey's sister, attacked Jay-Z, allegedly because she was angry about his infidelity.) They held hands, in a very clear message they moved past it.
The PDA was pretty abundant during their performance. There was a lot of hand-holding, arm-wrapping, and even one kiss on the hand. At one point, Jay-Z almost got a little too handsy for stadium-wide viewing:
Fans caught footage of Bey's powerful vocals and the ridiculously cool moving stage she was on while performing 'Run the World (Girls)':
Bey wore over six distinct looks, running the full gamut from silver metallic robes to slick black jumpsuits. Dapper Dan and Gucci were behind some of the designs:
The 42-song set list, of course, didn't have any new tracks. The couple is long rumored to be releasing a joint album, so it's unclear whether their set list last night will remain the song list for the entire tour. Below, what they performed, via Official Charts:
